Turrett is a Cyrean prototype of a stealth guard with a bit of a guilt complex over separating from his original wards and an overly-developed sense of the Prime Directive. Thankfully, over the intervening years, Turrett has become a bit more emotionally stable than he was right after the Day of Mourning. But he hasn’t forgotten his Objectives.
Update: Turrett has found Hannalore, one of his wards from when he was a bodyguard for her family. She has grown and is now a ranger mercenary. Unfortunately she has not heard from her brother Xanken or her parents. Xanken is presumed dead in the destruction of Cyre, and surely if their parents still lived, they would have tried to contact Hannalore or Turrett by now…wouldn’t they?
“Also I do not understand your need to apply names to everyone. I shoot things, therefore I am a turret. But for the convenience of the humans and the others, you may call me Turrett, and you may refer to me as the pronoun ‘he’ within your gender binary. I suppose naming is useful in that regard, for battle shorthand and positive human interactions. I shall make a note of it.”

…Where am I? Where are the humans I was supposed to be protecting? Wait…I remember the blast. And I remember the scouting party. Go off with them, the human commander said. Leave these humans and go with the others. Protect Cyre and you will protect your humans. Reconnaissance missions. I was good at those. My humans sent me on them sometimes. I would worry about them while I was gone, even though I was fulfilling their orders. I worried about them until I got back to Cyre.
But I can’t go back to Cyre now. It isn’t there anymore; Cyre is destroyed. My humans were in Cyre…therefore my humans are…
No, perhaps my humans escaped from the destruction, like me. Like how I escaped, dragged away from the edge of the chaos, barely sentient, only my secondary “root” consciousness active. No, humans are resourceful. My humans must have crossed the borders from Cyre somewhere out here to safety. They would not have stayed inside during the cataclysm; preservation of the humans was the first priority, even when they had me kill the other humans. Especially when they had me protect them from the other humans.
I should look for them. They would have gone to Sharn, like they used to do for business. I will add this as a Subordinate Objective. I must also continue on my other Subordinate Objective with the human Drake and the others. I will assist them until I find my humans, when I find them in Sharn.
Unless they are still in Cyre. They say everything was destroyed, that there is nothing human still there. They tell me they had to bind me to keep me from going back into the storm of destruction after my humans. Root consciousness wanted to fulfill the Primary Objective. I still do. I cannot have failed my humans. “I must protect my humans against all threats.” That Objective was Primary. If I no longer have a Primary Objective then I… I…
